I’m Tereza Sásková, a student of Data Science Msc. at the University of Trento. My main fields of interest are: Earth Observation, Geospatial Analysis and ML & Computer Vision.
What I’m Working On
I’m currently working on two projects that combine my interests in geospatial analysis and earth observation:
🌳 Single Tree Detection from Orthophotos
Building a cheap, training-free pipeline to give cities precise data about greenery coverage, combining the DeepForest model (CNN-based tree detection) with SAM2 (segmentation model).
🛰️ Deforestation Monitoring in Šumava National Park
An automated system to detect logging and deforestation events using Sentinel-2 satellite imagery and classical image processing - from building the dataset and training an ML model to designing a deployment-ready architecture.

My path into data science and tech world wasn’t a straight line. It began on mountain trails and race circuits.
Before I ever wrote a line of code, I was a professional mountain biker competing at the world cup level, where I became a Junior Vice-World Champion and multiple-time Czech national champion.
These experiences might seem far apart. However they share the same foundation, real, lived discipline, focus, and the drive… For me, discipline isn’t a catch phrase. It’s something I’ve practiced daily. Through years of training, recovery, constant improvement.
That same mindset now stays with me, when I learn, build, and solve problems in data science. I simply do things with my all 100%.
A career-ending injury eventually pushed me to rethink and starts something new. This is something that shaped me and also the way how I hand work, having willingness to always learn new things and adapt well in changing enviroment.
Today I’m particulary interested in projects where I can apply my data science skill in earth observation/geosaptial context. Whether that’s monitoring environmental changes from space or computer vision focu. While I’m always open to exploring new domains and learning from different areas of data science.
